The Test
This is a 2 part examination
1 - The Theory Test
The Theory Test is a 57 minute exam in the form of 50 multiple choice questions, using 'touch screen'computers. It is preceded by an optional practice session to allow you to get used to the system. The questions cover all aspects of driving and related subjects.
You must score at least 43 marks out of 50 to pass this test. The local test centre for Medway is 14 High Street, Rochester.
2 - The Hazard Perception Test
The Hazard Perception Test immediately follows the Theory Test and consists of a series of film clips shown from a driver's point of view. It is preceded by a short tutorial video which explains how the test works. During the test you will be shown 14 film clips, each containing one or more developing hazards. You are required to click the mouse button when you see a hazard developing that may result in you, as a driver, having to take some action. The earlier you respond, the higher your score. There are 15 scoreable hazards each carrying a maximum of 5 marks. You must score an aggregate of at least 44 marks our of the maximum 75 in order to pass this test.
Both the Theory and Hazard Perception tests must be passed at the same time. If one or both tests are failed, both tests must be retaken.
